Rosemarie "Roe" Yakovich's Obituary
Rosemarie “Roe” Yakovich (nee Harasty), age 87, of Lorain, passed on Saturday, September 23, 2017, following a short illness.
She was born on July 4, 1930, in Hammond, Indiana. Her family moved to Lorain when she was a young child.
Roe met her future husband, Joe, at a dance at Crystal Beach in 1949, and married him in 1951. Roe is survived by her three loving sons; Jeff (Kathy) Yakovich, of Vermilion, Jim (Jeanne) Yakovich, of Amherst, and Jack (Nancy) Yakovich, of Lorain, her six grandchildren; Matt, Michelle, Adam (Melissa), Katie, Kristie, and Zach, and two great granddaughters; Layna and Maycie, all whom they were extremely proud of.
Joe and Roe loved to travel and were fortunate enough to do so often. Roe also enjoyed reading and going to movies and dinner with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph J. Yakovich, on April 20, 2016, her parents; James and Anna (nee Urban) Harasty, her sister, Betty Ann Frankeberger (nee Harasty), and her brother, James Harasty.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, from 4 – 7 pm, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 am, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Fr. Robert Glepko, Pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to any charity of the donor’s choice.
