Roy Tommy Griffith's Obituary
Roy Tommy Griffith, age 78, of Amherst passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 19, 1940 in Robbins, TN to Gilbert and Odessie (nee Hill) Griffith. Tommy retired from the Ford Motor Company after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Local 425, enjoyed Bluegrass Music, fishing, NASCAR, and traveling to the High Miler Car Races every year. Spending time with his family and friends brought him much joy.
Tommy is survived by his, son, Todd (Diane) Griffith, of Amherst; daughter, Nannette (Rob) Hummel, of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Aarica Hummel, Jacob Hummel, and Adam Griffith; former spouse, Delores Horvath; brothers, Delbert and Harold Griffith, of TN.; sisters, Opal Sexton, of Robbins, TN, Ivazie O’Neal, of Oneida, TN, Ethel Hamby, of Robbins, TN, Nadine Edwards, of Vermilion, OH, Flonnie Zachary, of Robbins, TN, and Shirley Lawson, of Taylersville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Odessie Griffith; brothers, Earnest, Arzo, William, Ira and Gaither Griffith; and his sisters, Pearl Griffith and Edith Shannon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until time of closing prayers at 4:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral &Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Vermilion, OH.
