Rudolph Vene's Obituary
Rudolph F. Vene, age 88, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Arden Courts of Westlake, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice. He is finally reunited again with the love of his life, Dolores (nee Jankowski) who passed away on December 22, 2012.
Rudy was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 1, 1926 to the late Frank and Anna Vene. Dolores, the daughter of Anton and Florence Jankowski, was also born in Cleveland on April 2, 1929. They were married on September 13, 1947.
Rudy served in the US Navy during World War II.
After his time in the service, he worked as a clerk at the US Post Office in Cleveland for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Dolores worked as a sales clerk at Sears.
They were members of St. Jude Church in Elyria.
They are survived by their daughters; Elaine Thornsberry and Christine Perin, both of Elyria; their grandchildren, Ken and Theresa Kelly, Doug and Heather Futrall, Nicole and Mike Harper, and Brett and Debbi Thornsberry; and their great-grandchildren, Joshua Brubaker, Jessica Brubaker, Allison Harper, and McCade Kelly.
The family invites friends to join them at a graveside service on Friday, September 26th at 2:00 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. (Please meet at the cemetery entrance) Rev. Fr. Frank Kosem, Pastor of St. Jude Church, will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted.
The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, handled the arrangements.
