Ruth Ann McElroy's Obituary
Ruth Ann McElroy, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 30, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Amos E. and Della F. (nee Wyatt) Shumate.
Ruth retired as an assembler for Stanadyne (now Moen) and was a devoted member of Lighthouse Methodist Church in Lorain, where she found joy in singing in the choir. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, word puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family. Ruth was passionate about her church activities and was a dedicated advocate for Voices for Children-Lorain County, working tirelessly to support local children.
She is survived by her loving son, Rick; daughter, Sherry; 17 cherished grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many beloved great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Richard McElroy, in 2017; her children, Brenda, Beth, Willa, and Jayne; and her parents, Amos and Della Shumate.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road., Amherst.
