Samuel A. Slack's Obituary
Samuel A. Slack, age 92, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home.
Born on March 15, 1922 in South Amherst to the late Samuel and Lulu Slack, he graduated from South Amherst High School in 1940.
Samuel served in the US Marines during World War II.
For 46 years he worked at Nordson Corporation as a foreman, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, he enjoyed doing volunteer work.
Sam enjoyed traveling and rebuilding player pianos.
He was a member of the former St. Basil Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain, and after it closed became a member of St. Helena Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church in Cleveland.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Valeria (nee Vancs); his daughter, Marleen (Tom) Swartz Savage, of Fremont; his grandsons, Timothy Swartz and Andrew (Christine) Swartz; his great-grandchildren, Samuel, Lauren and Joshua Swartz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne and his sisters, Dorothy Amenhauser and Mabelle Dickinson.
Services will be held privately for the family.
