Samuel Whitehead's Obituary
Samuel Whitehead, age 82, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Honoring Sam’s selfless and generous wishes, the family gifted his body to LifeBanc.
Sam was born in Pulaski, TN but lived most of his life in Louisville, KY until he moved to Lorain, OH where he lived for the past 30 years. He served his country while enlisted in the United States Army from 1959 until being honorably discharged in 1962. After his term served in the military, he worked for the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #110, in Louisville for many years before proudly retiring. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog, “Beau.” Sam was an avid basketball player and fisherman. He was also an excellent softball player which, through the amateur softball association, was inducted into the Louisville Hall of Fame in 1995.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lenore Wright (nee Konowal); sister, Connie Gowan; brother, Harvey Whitehead; stepdaughters, Caprice Wright-Ybarra (Richard Toth) and Hallie Wright-Comes (Josh Comes); and grandchildren, Raegen and Veronica Ybarra and Aiden and Evan Comes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mamie Ella (nee Turner) Whitehead; and half-siblings, John, Paul, Bill, and Gifford Whitehead, and Lucille Lambert, and Lucille Turner McMillion
From the bottom of their hearts, the family thanks the neighbors and Gerald Mielcarek for making the call to 911 and to Tabitha Fraysier for returning his beloved dog, “Beau” home.
