Sandra Jamison's Obituary
Sandra Jamison (nee Costin), age 67, of Lorain passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center after a long and brave battle fighting cancer.
She was born on September 21, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to Louis and Shirley (nee Kimball) Costin. She graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School in 1963. In 1976 she decided to pursue a career in cosmetology and enrolled in beauty school.
She made a career for 35 years as a hairdresser for several salons, most notably Studio 8 and Studio 2000.
She was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lorain. The National Cosmetologist Association, and the Look Good Feel Better Program. In 1998 she was the recipient of the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Awareness Program, for her dedicated service in helping to eliminate cancer through research, education and service.
She loved her family and her granddaughter Emma, who was the light of her life. She enjoyed playing games and making crafts with her. Spending time with her family, gambling and taking trips with her best friend, Dawn brought her much enjoyment.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melisa (nee Frederick) and Brett Bangas, of Lorain; granddaughter, Emma Bangas; companion, George Herbst; brothers, Michael (Roberta) Costin, of Amherst; and Gregory (Donna) Costin, of Medina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Jamison; and her parents, Louis and Shirley Costin.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. for a memorial gathering at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
