Sandra J. Lunato's Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” J. Lunato (née Peck), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio, at the age of 75.
Born on September 29, 1949, in Lorain to the late Robert and Anna Mea Peck, Sandy’s life was marked by compassion, dedication, and deep love for her family and community. A proud 1968 graduate of Clearview High School, she pursued her calling in nursing at St. Joseph School of Nursing and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lorain County Community College.
Sandy dedicated 43 years of her life to caring for others as a charge nurse in the psychiatric unit at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 2014. Her kindness, strength, and steady presence made her a trusted caregiver and friend to many throughout her long career.
She was a long-time resident of Avon for 27 years, then made her home in Wakeman for 25 years, and most recently resided in Amherst. Sandy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—gardening, reading, and traveling the world with those she loved.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Lunato; her son, Jason (Michelle) Lunato of Avon; her daughter, Jamie Booth of Norton; and her cherished grandchildren: Izabella, Sophia, and Benjamin Lunato; and Eric (Sarah) Booth, Austin (Sydney Iceman) Booth, and Riley Booth. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Roseanne Hitlan; her brother, Robert Peck Jr.; and her son-in-law, Rich Booth.
The family will receive friends in remembrance and celebration of Sandy’s life on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
