Sandra L. McGinnis' Obituary
Sandra L. McGinnis (nee Lanning), age 70, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at her home while under the care of hospice.
Born on August 2, 1943 in Lorain, Sandra graduated from Lorain High School.
For many years, she worked as a custodian at First United Methodist Church in Lorain. Prior to retirement, Sandra worked most recently as a bartender at the Moose Lodge #552 in Lorain for over 20 years.
She was a member of the former First United Methodist Church in Lorain, the Moose Lodge #552 in Lorain and the VFW Post 1662 in Amherst.
She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, and taking family vacations when her children were younger. She also enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas with her husband, celebrating many anniversaries and Father’s Days there. Her greatest joy always came from spending any time with her children and grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ray B., Sr.; her sons, Ray Jr. (Tammy), of Elyria, and Mark (Becky), of South Amherst; her daughters, Kathy (Robert) Chesnick, of Lorain and Lori (James Conkle) Beecher, of Lorain; son –in-law, William Horinek, of Lorain; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Karol Casserman, of Canton and Laura Colvin, of Dover, Ohio, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and his wife, Leroy and Nora Lanning; her mother and her husband, Evelyn and Victor Ragnoni; her daughter, Jodi Horinek; and her brother, Bill Bodine.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Pastor Dorsey will officiate.
