Sandra "Sandy" Crapo's Obituary
Sandra "Sandy" Crapo (nee Sykuta), age 74, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013 at her home following a short illness.
Born on January 6, 1939 in Lorain to the late Ramon and Betty (nee Moehle) Sykuta, she graduated from Lorain High School in 1956B.
Sandy worked for the City of Lorain for many years. She worked for the former Lorain city treasurer, Lori A. Maiorana, and more recently worked as the chief deputy clerk of courts. Through the years, she was active with the local Democratic Party.
Sandy enjoyed the simple things in life. Friends, cooking, reading, and planting beautiful flowers in the spring. Above all else she lived for her family. Nothing was more important than Sunday family dinners at Grandma Sandy's house.
She is survived by her son Scott (Lisa), of Amherst; her daughters, Debi Solomon, of Elyria and Kelly Crapo, of Lorain; her grandchildren, Danielle Vilcheck, Derrick Beatty, Brittnee Crapo and Brianna Crapo; her brother, Richard (Dorothy) Sykuta, of Lorain; and her faithful companion, dog Sophie.
Besides her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Kuhn and brothers, John and Mark Sykuta.
The Crapo family invites friends to join them at a memorial gathering on Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. A memorial service will be conducted by family member, Steve Polansky, immediately following the memorial gathering at 12:00 noon in the funeral center.
Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
