Sarah A. Monos' Obituary
Sarah A. Monos (née Amstutz), 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Kingston Residence of Vermilion following a lengthy illness. Born on December 31, 1941, in Lorain, Ohio, Sarah lived her entire life in Lorain County, where her presence touched the lives of many.
A graduate of Clearview High School, Sarah pursued higher education at Kent State University, earning a Master’s Degree in Teaching. Her passion for education and dedication to helping others led her to a rewarding career with Lorain City Schools, where she worked as a teacher for the hearing impaired for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. Sarah’s commitment to her students and her community was profound and unwavering.
A longtime member of Brighton Congregational Church, Sarah was deeply involved in her church community. She had a love for quilting, creating beautiful works that reflected her warmth and creativity. Alongside her beloved late husband, David, Sarah enjoyed canning various foods and producing an array of essential oils from their home-based business. The couple shared a love for travel, with Europe being a particularly cherished destination.
Sarah’s memory will live on through her family, friends, and the countless lives she impacted. Her strength, compassion, and dedication will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Dwayne) Becker (nee Lenno), step-son, Scott (Tracey) Monos, daughter-in-law, Jeanne Lenno, grandchildren, Jonah Becker, Kayla Monos and Hailey Monos, as well as her beloved great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Monos, son, Joseph Lenno, grandson, Daniel Becker, granddaughter, Aubrey Monos, twin brother, John Amstutz, brother, Robert Amstutz and her parents, Wilbur & Alice (nee Traab) Amstutz.
