Sharon R. Nickerson's Obituary
Sharon R. Nickerson (nee McGlumphy), age 80, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy New Hospice of St. Joseph on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Sharon was born on January 10, 1943 in Wheeling, W. VA and soon after marriage to her beloved husband in 1963, they moved to Lorain where she has lived since. She loved taking part and volunteering for P.T.A.’s, being a room-mother and enjoyed being an advocate for RIF (Reading is Fundamental) program. Sharon also enjoyed playing the piano for her church’s services. She worked in the food service department at Mercy Hospital for several years before retiring. Sharon always looked forward to solving her Sudoku puzzles. No matter what though, her family took precedence over everything, especially when it came to her precious grandchildren and going out to eat with her family.
She is survived by her children; Don (Juanita) Nickerson, of Lorain, JoAnne Hutson, of Manassas, VA and Karen Nickerson, of Parma Heights, grandchildren; Samantha Nickerson, Jessica (Josh) Nelson, Erica (Makena Sataraka) Nickerson, Tim (Georgia) Hutson and Kayla Hutson and her brother, John (Evelyn) McGlumphy.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Donald V. Nickerson, Sr., parents, Charles A. and Mae (nee Rose) McGlumphy and brothers; George and Mack McGlumphy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
