Shirley Malinowski's Obituary
Shirley Malinowski (nee Wade), age 63, of Wakeman passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 18, 1952 in Elyria, Ohio to Howard and Kathleen (nee Wilfong) Wade and graduated from Firelands High School in 1971. Upon her graduation from high school she went on to further her education at the Oberlin School of Commerce studying business.
Shirley worked as a secretary at Elyria County Club for many years. She then made the decision to change her career path to stay at home to raise and home school her 3 children. Shirley loved being a mother and being involved in all of their activities. She served as a 4-H Club Advisor, Cub Scout Leader, created a community cheerleading program and was an active participant with her son’s soccer program.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dale; sons, Joey Dale, of Wakeman and Jan-Michael (Melanie Carek), of Elyria; her daughter, Leanne Born, of Wakeman; grandchildren, Zachary, Tristan, Landon and Violet Born and Ava Malinowski; brother Wyatt Wade; sister, Pamela Dobbins; and her in-laws, Joe and Helen Malinowski.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Kathleen Wade.
The Malinowski family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Lee Stull, of Kipton Community Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Birmingham Cemetery.
