Shirley Mae Toth's Obituary
Shirley Mae Toth (nee Hatfield), age 70, of Lorain, passed away on June 3rd, 2021, with her family by her side, after a short struggle with lung cancer.
Shirley was born in Logan County, West Virginia on November 22, 1950 to Elmer and Maude (nee Johnson) Hatfield, and was proud to be a coal miner’s daughter.
She kept busy and active by working in the nursing field for over 50 years, caring for the elderly and senior citizens. Shirley enjoyed traveling, gambling, cooking, and gardening. Her love for all animals was unconditional. There will be many squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and deer in Lorain County that will definitely miss her morning feedings.
The way Shirley died is just like she lived; she wrote her own rules, she fought authority, and she paved her own way. And, if you said she couldn’t do it, she would make sure she did.
She is survived by her son, Roy J. Dyer, Jr., of Lorain, daughter, Wendy (Marc) Vitai, of Amherst, son, Joshua Dyer, of Lorain, her grandchildren, Redmond Dyer, Jake Dyer, Savannah Dyer, and Jordan Dyer, and her siblings, Lou and Violet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Troy, Leo, Pat, Minnie, and Sue.
The family will hold private services at a later date. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
