Shirley M. Vieta's Obituary
Shirley M. Vieta, age 75, of Lorain passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
She was born on March 24, 1940 in Lodi, Ohio to Bernon and Betty V. (nee Castor) Homan and attended Keystone High School.
Shirley worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Elyria Methodist Home and at Ohio Extended Care. She also worked at Goodman Beverage Company. She was a volunteer at the Lorain Youth Center and served as President of the Policeman’s Wife Club. Shirley enjoyed playing golf, doll making, antiquing and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, of 50 years, Robert S. Vieta Sr.;children, Conrad B. (Denise Beko) Smith, of Edmond, OK, Kathleen A. Smith, of Tucson, AZ, Robert S. Vieta Jr. (Chris Kuncel) Vieta, of Lorain, Grissobelle Lozano, of Cleveland, Tammy J. (Bob, deceased) Bring, Lorain and Anthony R. (Kristen Moore) Vieta, of Oberlin; grandchildren, Miranda Lee Vrzic, Robert D. Bring, Olivia C. Vieta, Michael A. Vieta, Luis Lozano, Christopher Lozano, Mark Vieta, Angie Vieta, Natalie Smith, Christina Smith and Shalain Gall; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Pat Collins) Smith, of Lagrange and Ricky (Virginia Casarez) Smith, of Lorain; sisters, Vicky L. (Chris) Secrest, of Lagrange and Marilynn (Bert, deceased )Walters, of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernon Homan and Betty V. (nee Castor) Smith; and step-father, Dwight L. Smith.
The Vieta family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8th. at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Fr. Donald Dunson, Pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
