Sonia Vargas' Obituary
Sonia Vargas, age 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice. Born on May 12, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, Sonia was the beloved daughter of Baltazar and Josefina (née Santos) Torres.
A proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1984, Sonia furthered her education at Lorain County Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Business. She dedicated over 20 years of her career as an accounting clerk at US Steel, where she was admired for her diligence and expertise.
Sonia's passions extended beyond her professional life. She loved traveling, with Mexico and Hawaii being among her favorite destinations. Her creative spirit shone through in her scrapbooking and journaling, capturing precious memories and moments. Sonia was also a devoted cheer mom, cherishing every moment spent watching her daughter compete in cheerleading events.
A faithful and devoted Christian, Sonia's kindness and good soul touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her.
Sonia is survived by her loving husband, Julio; her twin children, Omar and Julissa; her parents, Baltazar and Josefina Torres; her brother, Baltzar Torres Jr.; and her sisters, Luz Marina Pacheco and Wilma Torres.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by interment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
