Stanley A. Lewandowski's Obituary
Stanley A. Lewandowski, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, under the compassionate care of Mercy New Life Hospice.
Born on July 9, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, Stanley was the son of the late Henry and Helen (née Nadolski) Lewandowski. He graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain in 1961 before proudly answering the call to serve his country. Stanley enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 18, 1961, and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1965. His military service remained a source of great pride throughout his life.
Following his service, Stanley continued his education at Lorain County Community College and Cleveland State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He built a successful career at Ford Motor Company while also sharing his passion for learning as a teacher at Admiral King High School. Stanley genuinely enjoyed educating young people and found great fulfillment in helping his students learn and succeed.
Stanley was a member of Black River Masonic Lodge #786 and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid model airplane enthusiast who spent countless hours building and flying his aircraft. He also enjoyed collecting firearms and was skilled in reloading his own ammunition. A lifelong student of military history, Stanley had an incredible appreciation for classic films. He could easily identify actors, recall historical details, and recite memorable lines from many of his favorite movies.
Above all, Stanley will be remembered as a proud veteran, dedicated educator, lifelong learner, and devoted family man whose knowledge, quiet strength, and many interests enriched the lives of those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Richard (Vera Lee) Lewandowski; sister-in-law, Marcia Lewandowski; nieces, Debra and Donna; nephews, Henry Jr., Andrew, and Michael; great-nieces, Hannah, Hollybeth, Heather, Alexus, McKenzie, Amber, and Ally; great-nephews, Aaron, Nathaniel, Elijah, Brett, and Adam; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Edith C. Lewandowski, in 2018; his parents, Henry and Helen Lewandowski; his brother, Henry Lewandowski; and his niece, Linda DiFrancesco.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral center. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
