Stanley P. Szanty's Obituary
Stanley P. “Staush” Szanty, age 89, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Ames Family Hospice House, Westlake.
He was born on December 12, 1932 in Lorain, where he lived up until 35 years ago when he moved to Elyria. He is a 1951 graduate of Lorain High School. After high school graduation, Stanley went on to serve his country while enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his time served, he was stationed in Greenland where he was a radio operator. After his honorable discharge from the military, he went to work for US Steel, where he repaired instruments, finally retiring from there after 37 years.
Stanley loved baseball and golfing. He was on the Croatian Club’s Fastpitch Softball team for many years. “Staush” was an extremely social guy and enjoyed being a member of many social clubs.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori King, of Mentor, daughter, Susan (Bill) Lothridge, of Amherst, son, John (Malissa), of Medina; 6 grandchildren, Alesha, Ryan, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Nick, and Grace; 3 great grandchildren, Nevaya, Alaina, and Coralie; and a sister, Betty Jean Bednarik, of Birmingham, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (nee Rogers) Szanty; parents, Andrew and Rose (nee Pincura) Szantay, and a brother, Ronald Szantay.
The Szanty family would like to thank everyone for their care and compassion for their dad,“Staush,” especially his nieces, nephews, and the staff at Ames Family Hospice. The family also extends a special “thank you” to Stanley’s caregiver, Mari Vasquez, who came to visit and care for him every day.
The family will be having a private burial service. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for both, Stanley and his beloved wife, Nancy, from 3 - 5:00 pm, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Their Celebration of Life is being held in the Gathering Center, so please enter through the west set of doors at the funeral center.
