Stanley Robert Wnek's Obituary
Stanley Robert Wnek, age 83, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice Center.
He was born on August 24, 1938, in Lorain, Ohio to Stanley and Sophia (nee Maciaszkiewicz) Wnek. He was a 1956 graduate of Lorain High School. Stanley served his country with the United States Air Force. In 1966 he began his career at U.S. Steel in the bar mill, retiring in 2003, after 37 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and took great pride in providing for his family.
Stanley was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, building things for his home and his monthly breakfast outings with his friends from U.S. Steel.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcia (nee Miller) Wnek; children, Kenneth (Bernadette) Wnek, Paul (Kara) Wnek, Robert (Aimee) Wnek, John (Amy) Wnek, Carol (Venkat) Patnaik, Kevin Wnek, and Jayne (Jim) Flugel; grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, Brenna, Paige, Bryce, Olivia, Gregory, Dominic, Emily, Isabella, Nicholas, Aiden, Ajay, Vinay, Katie, Sam, and Ally; and his sister, Mary Ann Bennett.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Sophia Wnek; and his brother James Wnek.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at the church. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
