Susy Q. Youngless' Obituary
Susy Q. Youngless (nee Gross), age 74, of Amherst, passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
She was born on May 11, 1946 at St. Ann's in Cleveland, OH. Susy grew up in Brownhelm Township, and lived there until moving to Amherst in 1999. She is a 1964 graduate of Firelands High School , after which she attended Lorain County Community College where she earned a certificate in Secretarial Science. Upon graduation, Susy began her career as a medical transcriptionist at Allen Memorial Hospital in Oberlin. After working at Allen for many years, she went on to work at the office of doctors Slocum and Jonesco. Susy then continued working at Rehabilitation Consultants Inc, from which she retired .
Susy is a member of St. Joseph’s in Amherst as well as a member of the Brownhelm Twp. Historical Association. She enjoyed knitting blankets for her grandchildren, reading biographies, and watching movies and television with her family. When her husband was still living, she enjoyed going to see musical theatre with him, and especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the theatre.
She is survived by her children; Lisa (Rick) Thrasher, of Vermilion, Chris (Tracie) Youngless, of Elmore, OH, and Donna Adams, of Vermilion, her grandchildren; Derrick, Michael, and Bradley Thrasher, Anna, Rachel, and Jacob Youngless, and Colin Adams, and her great grandson, Jameson Thrasher.
Susy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Leonard “Butch” Youngless, in 2019, parents; George & Clara Gross, her biological mother, Adele Luce, and her brother, Patrick Luce.
The family is holding private services. Everyone will be invited to a celebration of her life at a later date. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.
