Sylvester Myrick's Obituary
Sylvester “Scooter" Myrick III, Chief Raven Fox, the principal chief of the Notoweega Tribal Nation, age 54, of Columbus and formerly of Lorain, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 after a 3 month battle with cancer.
He was born May 17, 1955 in Lorain. He lived here until moving to Columbus in 1979. He became a cosmetologist and owned his own salon called Chez d’or. He also dealt with radio broadcasting and commercial dub overs. He loved life, traveling, going to pow wows and was a historian for his family ancestory.
He leaves behind to mourn, his wife, Carolyn Marie (nee Counts); sons, Brandon, Shaun, Stephen; his daughters, Chelsea, Iesha, and Danielle; 4 grandchildren; his parents Sylvester Myrick, Jr. and Armeada Myrick; his brothers, Dennis, Michael, Eric and Jeffrey and his sister, Michele Franklin; as well as many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Sylvester Myrick, Sr. and George Spencer, Sr.; his grandmothers, Carrie Myrick and Eula Spencer and step-grandmother, Arlean Myrick; his sister, Carolyn Reese and his brothers, James and Kevin, and other family members.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20th from 2-5 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Graveside services, with traditional tribal committal ceremonies, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Little Middle Creek Cemetery (also known as Middle Creek Zion Baptist Cemetery), Washington Township in Paulding County, Ohio.
