Tamara Jo Gibson's Obituary
Tamara Jo Gibson, a beloved resident of Amherst and a cherished member of our community, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at University Hospital in Cleveland. She was born on January 11, 1956, and was a lifelong resident of Amherst.
Tamara was a proud graduate of Marion L. Steele High School, Class of 1974. Following her education, she dedicated herself to a fulfilling career at Ford Motor Company, where she served as a dedicated line worker and inspector from 1976 until her well-deserved retirement in 2008. Her 32-year tenure with Ford began at the Lorain plant eventually leading her to the Avon Lake plant.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tamara discovered a passion for Longaberger baskets, transforming what began as a hobby into a successful venture. Her warm and caring personality, combined with a radiant spirit, made her the perfect fit for this role, and people naturally gravitated towards her. Her exceptional sales skills led to commendations from the Longaberger family, who personally thanked her for the phenomenal job she did and even autographed some pieces from her collection.
Tamara had a green thumb and found joy in caring for her plants and flowers around her home. She embraced her husband's hobbies, fostering a shared love for various activities. One of their favorite pastimes was embarking on rides together on his Harley. As a retirement gift to herself, Tamara purchased her own Harley, and the couple enjoyed exploring new places and sights on their bikes.
In addition to motorcycle adventures, Tamara learned to fly remote-controlled planes alongside her husband, deepening their connection through shared interests. Her enthusiasm for life, vibrant personality, and dedication to her loved ones will forever be remembered.
Tamara Jo Gibson is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Gibson, step-son, Joshua (Meredith) Gibson, of Thorton, CO, her siblings, George Rutledge & Barb Haynes and a host of friends and family who will continue to hold her in their hearts. Her memory will live on through the warmth and joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Irene (nee Slauter) Rutledge
