Theodore Pienoski's Obituary
Theodore (Ted) Pienoski of Amherst died peacefully at Kingston of Vermilion on Thursday, June 21, 2012. He was born on November 19, 1932 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Ohio, attended Nativity School, Hawthorne Jr. High and graduated from Lorain High School in 1950.
Ted served in the United States Navy as an Aerial Photographer's Mate during the Korean War, spending time in Puerto Rico, Newfoundland and Africa. After his discharge, he worked at U.S. Steel, Lorain Work in the Industrial Engineering Department, BOP Shop, and retired in 1984 as Foreman of the Foundry. He later worked for the Lorain Morning Journal, Brady Coffee Service and Lakeland Enterprise.
He was a member of the 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, Amherst Council 4891, the Lt. Frances McManus 4th. degree Council Knights of Columbus, the Polish Legion of America Veterans and enjoyed volunteering for RSVP. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan (nee Burns); son, Thomas (Teri) Pienoski, of Sheffield Lake; daughters, Marie (Mark) Johnson, of Waldorf, Maryland, Therese (David) Feiner, of Marietta, Georgia and Irene (Douglas) Barker, of Canton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Michael, Christine and Elizabeth Pienoski, Anne, Daniel, and Laura Johnson, Philip Feiner, Mitchell and Janelle Barker. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Fior, of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic (Dan C. ) and Josephine Pienoski,, and a brother, Daniel who died as a youth.
The Pienoski family will receive family and friends on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
