Theresa Lynn McDonough's Obituary
Theresa Lynn McDonough, 61, of Wellington, reunited with her Lord and Savior and several loved ones on Sunday, December 12, 2021.
Born on April 4, 1960 in Cleveland, OH. She was the first daughter of Franklin and Barbara Hammond (McNeil). Theresa graduated from the class of 1978 at Midview High School. After graduating she worked for General Motors where she later medically retired.
She was an amazing person with the biggest heart and most infectious laugh. Theresa boldly stood up for things she was passionate about & often spoke freely. She loved getting her nails professionally done and they were often her brightest accessory during a “double salute”. One of her favorite past times was bowling and she loved attending the Country Jam concert. Theresa went on many trips, her favorite being a girls trip to Hawaii with her mother and daughter. One of her favorite places to spend time was the Eagles in Wellington, OH - where she had collected a multitude of dear friends. Theresa loved her family deeply and extended love to even animals, especially her grand-kitties.
Theresa was a loving daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many. As a single mother, she dedicated her life to caring for her daughter, Dawn, who had been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. When she met Mac, she finally had a partner in her cause. While here on Earth, Theresa managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars in search of better medicine and prayerfully, a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Theresa and Dawn shared a bond that many never have with their mother. She treasured each day she had with Dawn, as if it may be her last. Theresa loved Dawn to the moon and back and was her biggest supporter and best nurse throughout her life.
Theresa was reunited in Heaven with her mother, Barbara; brothers, Jeff and Gathal; grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. As well as many Cystic Fibrosis warriors.
Theresa was well loved and will be sorely missed. Her memory will be forever treasured by her surviving husband of 28 years, Richard “Mac” McDonough; daughter, Dawn Schieferle (Brad); son, Eric; father, Franklin Hammond; brother, Franklin Hammond Jr; sister, Ellen Ondrejovich; best friend, Kay Kemble; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Theresa will also be missed by Milo & Rocky, her beloved cats.
Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, December 20, 2021 from 10:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd, Amherst, OH. Pastor and friend Charles “Chuck” Butcher will be officiating the services. The family has invited you to dress casually and would like all to know Theresa loved bright colors.
Family would love for you to take part in the celebration of Theresa’s life, after the services, at the Wellington Eagles #2051; 631 S. Main Street, Wellington.
In lieu of flowers, please give honor to Theresa by donating to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, https://www.cff.org/donate as Theresa was so passionately involved in raising money for a cure and better medical treatments.
