Theresa Ann Schrenkel's Obituary
Theresa Ann Schrenkel (nee Fantin), age 90, of Lorain, peacefully went to Heaven on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, surrounded by her loving family, who hadn’t left her side for many days prior.
She was born on September 9, 1928 in Lorain, where she lived her entire life. She is a 1946 graduate of St. Mary High School and worked in the cafeterias for Lorain City Schools for 25 years, before retiring in 1993. She is a devout member of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish, where she embraced her love of her religion with great comfort. Theresa devoted her life to her family. Her love and care were never ending and she especially always looked forward to her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved and cherished all the times that the family would get together, no matter what the occasion. Theresa enjoyed visiting and having coffee with her family and friends and could also be found in the mornings inside at Midway Mall, walking her 2 mile trips..
She is going to be dearly missed by her children; John (Diane) Schrenkel, of Naples, FL, Diane (Thom) Oetzel, of Estero, FL, Mary Jo (Mike) Salisbury, of Amherst, and Theresa (Frank) Torres, of Lorain, her 9 grandchildren; Christina Wolcott, Andrea (John) Cooper, Janelle Landry, Anthony Schrenkel, Austin Schrenkel, Michael Salisbury, Megan Salisbury, LaRay (Justin) Shields, and Madison Torres, her 5 great grandchildren (with her 6th one being expected at the end of March), and her sisters; Mary Jane Thomas, JoAnne Walbom, Ann Kostyo, and Virginia Glass.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph, in 2003, her two sons, Joseph, Jr. and Al Mario, who were tragically killed in a car accident in 1964, her parents; Frank and Mary (nee Fogliatto) Fantin, and her siblings; Angelo, John, Dave, and Rosemary Tompkins.
The family will receive friends for her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 10:00 am, at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain, Ohio 44055. The Rev. Fr. John C. Retar, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
