Theresa E Servitelli's Obituary
Theresa E. Servitelli (nee Colosi), age 96, of Lorain passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 23, 1918 in Summerville, MA to Albert and Jennie (nee Taurasi) Colosi. Theresa graduated from Summerville High School in 1936. She and her family moved to Lorain in 1958.
Theresa made her life as a homemaker. She was an amazing seamstress and made her daughters prom dresses, Halloween costumes and their beautiful wedding gowns. She also enjoyed crocheting and loved to entertain at her home. Her home was always the gathering center for holidays. She had a passion for traveling and traveled throughout the World –except China and Alaska. Theresa was a life member of the Amvets Auxiliary Post 22 of Vermilion. She served as President of the auxiliary and also served as President of the State of Ohio Auxiliary from 1980 to 1981. She was an active member and was responsible for starting the kitchen at the post as was fondly referred to as the “Kitchen Witch” and was also instrumental in the fundraising events that supported the scholarships that were awarded to students that were studying nursing. Theresa was also the manager of Erie West Mobile Home Park for several years.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorthea Aldrich, of Ocala, FL, Johanna Edwards, of Lorain, Estelle Kiska, of Lorain, Carlyne McQuate, of Lorain and Verna Hoasenflue, of Amherst; 35 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Albert Colosi, of California.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, George Servitelli; son George Servitelli Jr.; daughters, Rosalie Lewis and May McDowell; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where a memorial service will held at 7:30 p.m. following the visitation. Pastor Dan Samms, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Theresa to a charity of your choice.
