Thomas Bires' Obituary
Thomas Bires Sr., 85, of Amherst, passed away Friday, July 27th, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Bonnie (nee Oden), his children Jane (Salvador) Jacinto of Amherst, Thomas Jr. (Debra) of Seminole, FL, James (Mary Lyn) of Westlake, John (Jacqueline) of Elyria, Barbara (Leonardo) Martinez of Lorain, and Joseph of Lorain, and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Navy veteran of WWII, he served onboard the USS Tatum in multiple campaigns including the Normandy landing and the evacuation of Nagasaki. He was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman, and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Petrik) and is the last of their 11 children to pass; John, Mary Koczak, Jane Smith, Nicholas, Alice Somers, Michael, George, Joseph, James, and Dorothy Buttitta.
At his request, there will be no showing or funeral service. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, at a later date
