Thomas Pozega's Obituary
Thomas J. Pozega, 71, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness. He was born in Lorain on November, 17th, 1941.
Thomas graduated from Lorain St. Mary High School, and was a member of the football team that was inducted into the Lorain Hall of Fame. He attended Kent State University. Thomas was employed as an inspector for the Ford Motor Company for 39 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain. Thomas enjoyed traveling, yard work, and was an avid Ohio State fan. He loved playing sports. He played basketball, softball, and walleyball for the Ford Motor Company league. He coached 7th and 8th grade basketball at both St. Peter, and St. Stanislaus.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Lois (nee Ryan); loving children, Tom (Donna) Pozega of Wellington, and Denise (Don) Pijor of Plymouth, MI; step-son, Aaron Lakner of Houston, TX; step-daughter Denise (Jose) Jimenez of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Heather and Tiffany Pijor, Britney Lakner, Dustin Jimenez, Codi and Amanda Crookshanks; great-grandson, Alexzander Lackner; sister, Maryann (Ron) Majoras.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (nee Durjava); parents, Michael and Sophie (nee Yuhasz) Pozega; brothers, Bob and Gene Pozega.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain will officiate. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service in the Funeral Center.
