Todd A. Pierce's Obituary
Todd A. Pierce, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2022, after a short illness. He was 42 years old.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, December 10, 1980, to David and Deborah Pierce, he joined his older brother, Marc, in infusing his family with joy and laughter; quick wit and an impish smile were his trademarks.
Todd attended St. Anthony’s elementary school, later graduating from Lorain Catholic High School in 1999. He spent high school summers jet skiing off Harmon’s Beach and played defensive lineman in the fall. His associates degree in Criminal Justice from LCCC led him to the Sandusky Police Academy, where he graduated in 2002.
His police career began in Put-in-Bay, working alongside his cousin, Chad Cantu – oh, the stories they told! Later working security at PNC Bank and shift sergeant at University Hospital also provided a wealth of wild stories.
Wanting a change, he turned his attention to truck driving, doing over-the-road work for McElroy then Holland Truck Lines, the latter being so that he could be home more often. He was currently employed with ABF Freight and a member of Teamsters Local 407. Despite brief tenures in these positions, he was able to create a lasting impact and friendships.
In addition to his parents and brother, Todd is survived by his loving and supportive aunt Barbara and uncle Harold Deidrick, caring aunt Tracy Bice, aunt Becky Bainter and uncle Phil Pierce. The proud godfather to Tori Cantu, he also brought joy to nieces Gabriella Cantu, and Chole & Grace Zgola.
Although much of his free time was spent gaming with friends, his first love was having time on Lake Erie. Ten summers working with the Lorain Marine Patrol, keeping our waterways and boaters safe, gave him more opportunity to be where he found peace and joy – on the water.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Critical Incident Response Service – Westshore CIRS, PO Box 26222, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, from 5:30 pm until the time of his prayer service at 7:30 pm. at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor of St. Mary Church in Lorain, will officiate. Friends are also invited to join the family on Thursday, at 11:00 am at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where his inurnment will take place.
