Troy Ronald Brown's Obituary
Troy Ronald Brown, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, attorney, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 24, 1944, to Harry and Iris (née DuRocher) Brown, Troy was blessed with a brilliant mind and an unwavering dedication to excellence. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Senior Honors in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1968, followed by his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1972.
Troy’s legal career spanned over five decades, during which he built a stellar reputation as a skilled and detail-oriented attorney. He was a partner at Thompson Hine, LLP, before joining Singerman, Mills, Desberg & Kauntz Co., L.P.A., where he continued to make a lasting impact in the legal community. His expertise in commercial real estate law, his problem-solving abilities, and his commitment to serving others earned him great respect among colleagues and clients alike. He was a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio State, Wisconsin State, and American Bar Associations, as well as the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Troy was a man of God who found great joy and purpose in serving his church, Church of the Open Door. Whether through leadership, acts of service, or simply offering encouragement, he was always willing to contribute in any way needed. He was passionate about serving in youth ministry and found a calling in worship and tech ministry with his wife and son. In addition, Troy found great joy in serving the Christian homeschooling community, including serving on the board of H.E.A.R.T.S. for Jesus Christ Christian Education Institute.
Troy had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel. Twice, he meticulously planned and embarked on a 3-month journey to Alaska, driving the entire way in an RV with his beloved wife. These trips allowed them to immerse themselves in the communities they visited, forming connections and sharing in fellowship with local Alaskans. His passion for planning extended beyond travel—he was a true visionary who inspired those around him to strive for greatness.
Troy is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Deborah (née Janco) Brown; his children, Mason (Michele) Brown of Streetsboro, Aubyn (Nathan) Miller of League City, TX, Collin (Leah) Brown of Gates Mills, Pierce (Megan) Brown of Lorain, Andra (Ryan) Mindling of Westlake, and Halla (Joshua) Swiney of Goode, VA; and his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, and Willow Brown; Abraham, Addilyn, Hope, and Finntan Miller; Ansel Brown; Ayden and Elijah Brown; and Alister Swiney; brother, Daryl R. Brown, and cousin, James (Rose) DuRocher, both of Wisconsin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Church of the Open Door, 43275 Telegraph Road, Elyria, OH 44035, followed by a fellowship meal.
