Umpawn Promparkdee Jarrell's Obituary
Umpawn Promparkdee Jarrell (née Seth), a beloved member of the Vermilion community, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 55. She was born on July 20, 1968, in Thailand, and at the tender age of 6, she embarked on a journey that would lead her to the United States, where she would make her home for the next 49 years.
Umpawn's journey through life was marked by her unwavering determination and spirit. She was a proud graduate of Vermilion High School, Class of 1987, and she continued her pursuit of knowledge by attending Lorain County Community College. Her dedication to her community and her strong work ethic led her to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, where she contributed her skills for many years. However, it was in her role as a manager for Chez Francois and Touche in Vermilion for the past 12 plus years where she truly shone. Her commitment to her work was evident in the love and admiration of the restaurant's patrons, who adored her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Umpawn was a woman of profound faith, a devoted daughter of the True Living God. Pawn had the faith of Daniel and the strength of Samson. She and her husband, Dwayne Jarrell, established the Aramys Baseball team 23 years ago, a calling and mission they embraced wholeheartedly. Through this endeavor, they shared their passion for baseball with young men, teaching and molding them not just in the game but in life. Umpawn's love for food, her joy in serving others, and her gift for conversation made her a cherished presence in her community. Her infectious cheerfulness and happiness were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Umpawn is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Dwayne Jarrell; her son, Aaron (Erika) J. Perry, stationed in the United States Army in Alaska; her daughter, Courtney A. Jarrell; her cherished grandchildren, Destiny Ariah Bruno, Gianna Coco Perry, and Catalina Quinn Perry; her mother, Chantorn Promparkdee; her father, Richard Seth; and her sister, Elaine Seth. She was preceded in death by her son, Aramys Edward Lee Jarrell, in 1999.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11th, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
