Vern Altman's Obituary
Vern Altman born on August 28, 1927 in Sligo, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain at the age of 91.
He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987. Vern was an active and longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain, Ohio. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and listening to Blue Grass music.
Vern is survived by his sons, Tom Altman, and Terry Altman; daughters, Janet (Bob) Binder, and Cathy Hill; grandchildren, Jody Langmack, Steve Snyder, and Terry Lee Altman; great-grandchildren, Brenna Snyder, Lancey Elizabeth Snyder, and Caydon Snyder; brothers, Jim Altman, and Tom Altman; and his sister, Kate Altman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jean (nee Dodds) Altman; son, Andrew Altman; great-grandson, Cody Langmack; and son-in-law, Calvin Hill.
The Altman family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Oh 44001. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 4501 Clinton Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44055. The Rev. Laurie A. Miller, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Ohio. Military Honors will be conducted by the Amherst Veterans Honor Guard.
