Virginia Wright's Obituary
Virginia Wright (nee Irvan), age 95, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her home under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
She was born on May 23, 1919 in Paducah, Kentucky to Solan and Fannie Irvan. Virginia was a member of the East Broad Church of Christ in Elyria and belonged to the Secret Sisters of the Church. She was a generous lady who was always donating and caring for those who were in need by taking meals to shut-ins and donating to the Midwest Children’s Home. She retired from the Moen Company in Elyria,
Virginia enjoyed sewing, painting and baking. She was known especially for her fabulous blueberry muffins. She was a collector of dolls and Walt Disney Christmas ornaments. While her daughters were growing up she was an active member of the Girl Scouts. Virginia and her husband were a strong force in the Elyria Little League. In 1969 they took their team to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport. Virginia made all of the travel and housing arrangements for the Elyria Teams.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Wright DeTillio, Jeffery Wright, and Stephanie Wright; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wright.
The Wright family will receive friends on Tuesday January 27, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 28th. at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, in Elyria.
