Walter John Pustulka's Obituary
Walter John Pustulka, born on September 25, 1945 in Lorain, Ohio to Walter and Clara (nee Burgess) Pustulka passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Walter was born and raised on the East Side of Lorain. He was very active in neighborhood sports as he was growing up and was a star pitcher in City League baseball through his high school years. Walter graduated from Admiral King High School in 1964 where he was involved in the auto mechanics program. After graduating high school he married and had two sons Walter “John” Jr. and Donald. As his boys grew he became active in coaching Little League Baseball. He coached for Lucas Plumbing and Lorain Firefighters. He was instrumental in starting the original fields at Columbus Park spending many hours digging and raking to establish the fields getting them ready for the first season of play.
Walter was very knowledgeable about many things due to the variety of jobs he held throughout his life. He worked on the Ohio Turnpike pumping gas and also at Thew Shovel. He built houses for Reott builders helping to construct many houses in Lorain. Walter was called to B.F. Goodrich where he worked in several different buildings eventually becoming a Chemical Operator in the Latex Department until retirement.
In 1991 he married Debbie, the love of his life. They were married for 25 fabulous years. Walt and Debbie were inseparable whether it was at the bowling alley, shopping, helping out at Deb’s school or enjoying time with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling especially to the Caribbean and recently celebrated their 25th. wedding anniversary with a trip to Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. Some of their other favorite destinations included: Las Vegas, Nashville, Aruba, and Jamaica.
Walter also enjoyed his guy time while bowling in three leagues and golfing twice a week. He also found enjoyment in area casino trips and working on Sudoku puzzles.
Walter resided in Lorain for the majority of his years. He and his wife moved to Brownhelm Township in 2008 building their dream home together. He took extreme pride in everything he did especially in his home and manicured yard. He enjoyed making new friends, which was very easy with his infectious smile and sociable personality. Walt and Deb were truly blessed with wonderful family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Debbie (nee Ksiazk); sons, Walter John Pustulka, Jr. (Rachel), of Lorain and Donald Pustulka, of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandson, Jason Pustulka; aunt, Marge Borawski; many cousins; he was loved and cherished by his extended family Father and Mother-in-law, Ronald and Joyce Ksiazk; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Mary Ksiazk; nephews and nieces, Daniel and Crystal Ksiazk, Matthew Ksiazk and Devon Ruen, and Brian and Laura Eppley; and great-nephew, Jacob Ksiazk.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Pustulka; and his infant brothers, Francis and Charles.
The Pustulka family will receive family and friends on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Saturday, April 16th. At 9:15 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 309 W. 7th. Street, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Daniel Divis, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
