Christine Cruz - Friend/Letter Carrier
To the Very Special Reid family: I can't tell you how much it meant to me that you mentioned what Your Father was to me and so many others in his beautifully written obituary. I am also very thankful for the exceptional people of Dovin Reber Jones Funeral Home for being so kind and considerate (who were also touched by him). The things I have to say about my friend, Wayland, go way and beyond what I've mentioned already. From our early meeting years ago on my mail route, Wayland, being so personable and friendly and very happy to have survived, showed me his scar from his open heart surgery. He told me with pride in his voice, that he was a member of the "Zipper Club". From that point on, I looked forward to seeing him on my route. I just knew he was special. I can't tell you how many times he made me smile, asked about my daughters or cared about what was going on with my life. He used to stand at the end of the driveway and pretend he was hitching a ride with his thumb up or to hike up his pant leg as if that what it took to make me stop! He talked about Barb, his children, grandkids, and work, with true joy. We all wish we had more time with Wayland. There is no one like him, My deepest condolences, Christine
