William J. Fazekas' Obituary
William J. “Bill” Fazekas Sr., age 86, of Lorain passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 17, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to Andrew and Helen (nee Toth) Fazekas. William attended Lorain High School and enlisted with the United States Navy on April 28, 1944. He was honorably discharged on April 7, 1947 with the rank of Seaman Second Class.
William was employed as a Lorain Police Officer for 11 years and upon leaving the Police Department he went on to work at Lake Terminal Railroad, where he retired from. His true passion and talent was the work he did as auto mechanic, which he was well known for.
Besides working on cars, Bill enjoyed golfing and was a huge Miami Dolphins football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (nee Drvodelich); son, William (Molly) Fazekas Jr., of Lorain; daughters, Janet Gwynn, of Berlin Hts., and Sharee (John) Dorsey, of Oberlin; grandchildren, Joelelle Fazekas, Kelly Polander, Jason and Joseph Gwynn, and John and Jennifer Dorsey; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Padgett and Arlene Bari.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen Fazekas; and brothers, Andrew, Ernie, Alexander and George Fazekas.
The Fazekas family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21st. at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Peter Toth, Pastor of The Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
