William Francis Hoffman's Obituary
William Francis Hoffman, age 52, of Amherst, Ohio formerly of Burrillville, RI, passed away on the morning of June 13, 2014 after a long illness. Bill, as he was known to family and friends was born in Norwich, Connecticut on April 6, 1962 to Harold and Rita Hoffman.
In 1980 he graduated from Norwich Regional Technical High School and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Bill enjoyed a long and successful career in medical device design and manufacture first with Johnson and Johnson companies, as a private consultant and most recently with Invacare of Cleveland, Ohio.
Bill was an avid golfer and sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors and following his favorite sports teams. He enjoyed a full life and many adventures with his partner of 29 years, Kevin Mazzarella. Bill was known for his generous nature and will be remembered by many for the difference he made in their lives.
He is survived by his partner, Kevin, who he married in April 2011; his mother, Rita LaRochelle Hoffman, formerly of Norwich, CT and now of Poulsbo, Washington; siblings, Judy (Michael) Dougherty, of Hansville, WA, Susan (Michael) Haynes, of New Bern, NC, Harold John (Deborah, deceased), of West Haven, CT, David (Susan), of Delmar, NY, Marylou (Dan) Zimmerman, of Poulsbo, WA and Nancy Jean Hoffman, of Vancouver, WA; he is also survived by Derek Poitras and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold J. Hoffman Sr. and his sister-in-law, Deborah Hoffman.
Private funeral services will take place. Those wishing to remember Bill in a special way are asked to consider a contribution to your favorite charity in his name.
