William Charles "Bill" Miller's Obituary
William Charles “Bill” Miller, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on May 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication and service. Born April 13, 1937, in Chicago, Bill’s life was a vibrant blend of accomplishments, family and faith.
Bill is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dr. Kateri M. Miller (nee Grasso), his partner in love and life. He is also survived by his children Daniel R. Miller (Michele) of Galloway, Ohio; John T. Miller of Baltimore; Joseph R. Miller (Suzanne) of Columbus, Ohio; stepson John V. Spahr III of Tiffin, Ohio; grandchildren Andy, Ben, Charlie, Evie, Brendan and Nick Miller; Zohara Vachino-Miller; and Everleigh Spahr; siblings Rita Miller Parrish of Peachtree City, Ga., Patricia Miller Bischoff of Crystal Lake, Ill. and Thomas M. Miller (Kirsten) of Moscow, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Viola A. Miller, and his son, Gregory W. Miller.
Bill’s career included teaching English at Cary-Grove High School (Ill.), serving as editor of the Crystal Lake Herald (Ill.) and working as a sales and marketing manager for Clauss Cutlery Company (Ohio) for nearly two decades. At 70, he embarked on a second career at Wal-Mart, retiring at 77. A gifted writer, Bill authored “Recollections and Reflections” in 2020, preserving his family’s history and sharing stories that brought laughter and connection.
He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus since 1983. Bill’s life was a testament to faith and service. His impact endures through the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
Please join us in celebrating Bill’s extraordinary life on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father Jacob Degele will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
