Zbigniew Stanley Puza's Obituary
Zbigniew Stanley Puza, 79, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2025, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by the love of his family.
Born April 2, 1946, in Lorain, Ohio, Zbigniew was the son of Stanley and Hedwig (née Leszhowicz) Puza. He grew up in the area and graduated from Vermilion High School with the Class of 1964. Later in life, he proudly earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Heidelberg College in 1980—an accomplishment that reflected his determination and lifelong commitment to learning.
In 1967, Zbigniew answered the call to serve his country when he was drafted into the United States Army. He served honorably until 1969 and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
Zbigniew devoted 34 years to a career in law enforcement, serving his community with dedication and quiet strength. His service included time with the Bay Harbor Police Department in Florida from 1983 to 1984, as well as the Vermilion Police Department and the Lorain Police Department, where he spent many years before retiring in 2010. He took great pride in his work and the communities he protected.
Outside of his professional life, Zbigniew found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. He enjoyed gardening and had a long-standing fascination with hypnosis, interests that reflected his patience, curiosity, and thoughtful nature.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, Stan Puza of Marietta, Georgia, and Corey Puza of Lorain; his daughter, Dawn Linder of Berlin Heights; his two grandchildren; and his sister, Alice Puza of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Zbigniew was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Hedwig Puza.
