Carl Lazevich's Obituary
Carl Lazevich, age 81, of Amherst, passed away at Kingston of Vermilion on Monday, May 15th, 2023.
He was born on May 16, 1941 in Gary, Indiana but moved to this area when he was a child. After graduating from Lorain High School he studied accounting while attending LCCC. Carl is also a veteran of the United States Army, serving his term before being honorably discharged.
Carl’s lifelong career was proudly devoted to being a fireman for the City of Elyria and was well-respected and liked by both co-workers and the community. He was also known to be a fantastic cook for the guys on shift, especially his Thanksgiving dinners. He will be remembered as the Captain for Station #2 before finally retiring after many years of dedicated service.
After Carl retired he moved to Arizona for a few years but ended up moving back to Amherst where he has lived since. He is a member of the IAFF Local 474 and was a car enthusiast, especially when it came to older model Corvettes. No matter how much of himself he dedicated to his career, his true love, fondness and devotion was always his family, particularly his grandkids.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Jeffrey Orozco) Lazevich; grandchildren, Alexis (Jaira Starkey) Lazevich, Brandon Lazevich and Alyssa (Dominic Grays) Lazevich; and his former wife & best friend, Joyce Ellen Lazevich. Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends for his memorial service on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec will officiate. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
