Charles L. Hooper, a loving husband, father and grandfather peacefully passed away at the age of 75 on Friday, August 11, 2023, at his home in Amherst, Ohio, under the compassionate care of New Life Hospice.Born on November 4, 1947, in Lorain, Ohio. He embarked on his journey of education at Brookside High School, where he graduated in 1965, laying the foundation for a life marked by determination and commitment.In 1969, Charles answered the call of duty and enlisted with the United States Navy. He was stationed in Meridian, Mississippi, where he worked in aviation operations. His dedication and service to his country were a source of great pride.Charles's pursuit of knowledge extended beyond his military service. He pursued higher education, attending Lorain County Community College and then earning his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Degree from Cleveland State University in 1982, a testament to his unwavering dedication to personal growth and professional excellence.A distinguished career followed, as he worked as a Project Manager for Nordson Corporation in Amherst for an impressive 36 years, ultimately retiring in December of 2008. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to his work left a lasting legacy.In addition to his professional accomplishments, Charles was an active member of the Sigma Theta Phi Fraternity at Lorain County Community College, the American Legion Post 118 in Amherst, and the Amherst Eagles Post 1442.Outside of his professional and community commitments, Charles had a deep passion for woodworking in his early years. He found joy in cultivating his yard, and he relished the opportunity to travel with his beloved wife, Brenda, and cherished family and friends. Adventures to the Caribbean, Las Vegas, and Alaska provided cherished memories. He will be truly remembered for his dry sense of humor and his "Hooperism's" and his memorable handlebar mustache.A loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians Baseball team, Charles enjoyed spending time following the games, celebrating the highs, and enduring the lows of each season.Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda (nee Claus); his children, Michelle Hooper of Amherst, and Jeffrey (Rebekah) Hooper of Smyrna, TN; and grandchildren, Henry, Cade, and Danni Hooper.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Charles, Selma Louise, and Doris Hooper, but his legacy of love and dedication endures in the lives he touched.Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Charles's life on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
