Some Awesome memories come rushing back. Hearing your daily rendition singing Chantilly Lace and King of the Road echoing from the shower. Pretty Impressive Indeed!
Dad, your style of story telling and making jokes, that devilish sparkle in your eyes that conveyed your genius comic delivery, leaving everyone present always entertained. You never discouraged our friends from being a part of our family! Jeff and I having friends over for days, pool parties and loud music, you sanctioned it all. All night Atari and Pong...you taught me to be competitive and put it all in! I certainly have your competitive spirit. I inherited your empathy and compassion...and Love for animals. I passed it on to my kids too! Our special bond with our horses came from the soul.
In High School, I called you to pick me up from school cuz I was sick and couldn't stay. I was actually heartbroken over a Boy. I didn't tell you...BUT YOU KNEW !
Minutes later, you surprised me, and we were saddling Cherokee and Buck, heading out for a long trail ride together , you knew this would fill my heart with peace and happiness! I was transformed when we returned with only a few splashes of mud in my hair.
The best part came next. While still sitting on Buck, he decided to roll, fully tacked up in the wettest, deepest mud hole ever. He went down and I jumped off, watching in amazement. Afterward, he jumped up looking like he was dipped in fresh chocolate, and bolted back to his stall! When you caught up to me...I was peeling Bucks bridle from his face as the mud dripped all over me like a shower. We came up with a plan to get my saddle off without being engulfed in this mud show. IT DIDNT WORK !! You and I quickly became covered in sloppy mud, IT Just Kept Getting Worse as his saddle and blanket were glued to Bucks body! Your comments started flying and we were both laughing so hard we were crying...Bent over this muddy horse cuz we couldn't catch our breaths ! Everytime we started to gain control... looking at each other, it started all over again !!
We had lots of those Special times that made our Bond unique.
I Love You Dad and I believe we will ride together again in Heaven.
(Please give Cherokee and Buck my Love. Aunt Marge, Aunt katie and Grama and Grandpa too)
Until then, I Will Feel Your Love in My Heart Always ...Especially when I ride. Love, Jo
