David H. Kilgore's Obituary
David H. Kilgore, 82, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Ames Family Hospice. Born on January 5, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Clyde and Ruth (nee Hopkins) Kilgore, David lived a life of dedication, service, and passion.
David graduated from Lorain High School and went on to serve his community with distinction as a police officer. He was a proud member of the South Amherst Police Department and the Sheffield Lake Police Department, where he dedicated years to ensuring the safety and well-being of others. David continued his career with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), where he worked diligently for 35 years before retiring.
In addition to his work with IBEW, David was a successful entrepreneur. He owned and operated Impressions Froggy Gear and Campi's restaurant, where his hard work and creativity shone through. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to quality were evident in all his ventures.
David was also a lifetime member of Operation Open Heart, reflecting his commitment to giving back and helping those in need. His passions extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid baseball player and fan, enjoyed the thrill of gambling, and was a talented woodworker, crafting pieces that brought joy to many.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and his brother, all of whom will cherish his memory and the love he shared with them.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A private family interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
David H. Kilgore will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of service, love, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
