Doris Mahilo's Obituary
Doris E. Mahilo (nee Grondin), age 87, of Lorain, was called home on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville while under the care of Crossroads Hospice following a lengthy illness.
She was born on March 18, 1923 in Lorain to the late Milton and Anna (nee Nicholson) Grondin. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1940B. She resided in Lorain most of her life, spending the last 14 years in North Ridgeville to be near her son, David, and his family.
For many years, Doris volunteered her time at Lorain Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Senior Fellowship Club in Lorain.
She enjoyed cross stitching, playing cards and bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. John (Darlene) Mahilo, of Blacklick, Ohio and David (Sue) Mahilo of North Ridgeville; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and her sister Della (John) Barczyk, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John, in 1992, her brothers, Robert, Milton, Chuck, William, and Arthur Grondin and her sister Esther Mrosek.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 30th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, OH, where a rosary service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. by the St. Vincent de Paul Altar and Rosary Society. Closing prayers will take place on Saturday, July 31st at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral center followed by funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria. Fr. James R. Ols, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
