Andrea Ellis
Irene and my mother, Beatrice Ellis, were the best of friends for over 70 years and they were a good support to each other as widows. Just a few years ago Irene used to stop in to visit my mom and drop off jigsaw puzzles she had mastered. My mother often wondered how Irene was doing when Irene could no longer easily communicate. They were both very smart, very kind and worked together as nurses at St. Joseph Hospital. Irene and her husband, Tom, were my godparents. When my family visited my parents in Florida we would often see Irene and Tom out and about. Just several years ago I would see Irene at Mass at St. Peter on Oberlin Avenue. After Mass we would meet out in front of church, hug and chat a bit. She always asked how Bea was doing and then she would give updates on her great-grandchildren. I have fond memories of Irene and I'm very sorry for your loss. And like my mom, who passed away last month, your mom had a long and good life. This is something we can be very grateful for despite the grief we are now experiencing. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Andrea
