Isabelle B. Konowal's Obituary
Isabelle B. Konowal, age 103, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She was born on September 3, 1915 in Lorain to Joseph and Sophia Desh.
She worked as a loan teller for 25 years for the US Steel Credit Union. Isabelle was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. She was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary, the Amherst Senior Card Group, the St. Peter and St. Joseph Senior Group. She was a part of the St. Mary’s Church Choir for 25 years.
Isabelle volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital for 20 years and delivered for Meals on Wheels for 17 years. She loved to play cards and travel. Her travels took her to Hawaii, Israel, Italy, and California. While traveling in California she loved spending time with her friends, Sally, Laura, Sharon, and Kay.
She is survived by her daughter, Lenore (Sam Whitehead) Wright, of Lorain; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 1979; and her sons, James Konowal, and Jerry Konowal.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Isabelle to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or to the Multiple Sclerosis National Headquarters, 6520 N. Andrews Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33309
