I had many great memories of Uncle Jim from my younger days. I could recount them but, my absolute favorite memory was from April of 2009 when I was home in Ohio with my sons Davey and Nathan. I was in Uptown Amherst reminiscing with an old friend when he told me Uncle Jim frequented a local pub. I asked him to take me there and as advertised, Uncle Jim was there. So, as Uncle Jim and I talked he asked me if I had ever seen his Cobra (pic attached). I of course had not. He took me to his home where I proceeded to convince him to put on a parka and take me home. (again, pic attached) I texted my sons to meet me at the back door of my parents (Marv and Delm) house in 15 minutes. It was more like 7 1/2. Uncle Jim made no doubt to me that that Cobra was as mean as could be. My son Nathan, 8 at the time, was already into fast cars because of video games. So, when Uncle Jim did a burnout all the way down Kay Avenue at 2:00 in the morning, Nathan was ready. 28 degrees and snowing (Nathan is from Southern California and knows nothing of snow). Before I could even unlatch the buckles, Nathan was climbing in. Again, 2:00, 28 degrees and snowing. Nathan had a long tee shirt on and underware. For the next 10 minutes, all I heard was tires screeching and the loudest 302 in Ohio tearing up Meister Road and Oberlin Avenue. When they got back, Nathan had a smile that wouldn't wipe from his face for a month. So, my greatest memory of Uncle Jim wasn't time he spent with me, but time he spent with MY son. Thank you Uncle Jim, I will miss you greatly.
