John A. Schmidt's Obituary
John A. Schmidt, age 78, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, Ohio.
He was born on April 30, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ferdinand and Kathleen (nee Duscher) Schmidt.
John enlisted with the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. He was employed as Manufacturer Sales Representative for Johnsonite Compnay.
He enjoyed playing golf, listening and singing barbershop harmony, cooking and dining out.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Suzy) Schmidt, of Huron; daughter, Pam (Jim) Perez-Strohmeyer, of Amherst; step-children, Lori (Frank) Lyons, Sue (Dave) Spaulding, Dave Whitmore, Don (Dawn) Whitmore and Rick (Roy Miller) Whitmore; grandchildren, Catie, Johnny, Lisa, Eric, Bella, Jenn, Amanda, Brook, Nikki, Lexi, Brett, Eliza and Tommy, Brady, and Kendall; siblings, Connie Koretz, of Del Ray Beach, Florida; and Marty (Jerry) Bayha, of Athens, OH .
John was preceded in death by his wives, Donna Lee Sica Schmidt and Carol Burns Schmidt; parents, Ferdinand and Kathleen Schmidt; and brothers, Tom and Bobby Schmidt.
The Schmidt family will receive friends on Tuesday, August, 12, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August, 13, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Matthews, North Carolina.
