Mary F. Edwards' Obituary
Mary F. Edwards, age 59, of Lorain passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
She was born in Lodi, Ohio on April 23, 1961 to Andrew and Marjorie (nee Minor) Matelski.
Mary worked in retail for several years and after leaving retail she began to babysit her nieces, nephews and then her great-nieces and nephews. She loved them all and they loved their “Favorite Aunt Mary”.
She loved all the Cleveland sports teams and had a favorite player from each. Her favorite Cavs player was Mark Price, Paul Sorrento from the Indians, and Bob Golic from the Browns. She and her husband Herb loved traveling to Chicago to watch her favorite National League Baseball team the Chicago Cubs, and she of course had a favorite player on that team and that was Ryan Sandberg.
Mary was a collector of Denim Days figurines and shot glasses which she collected from all the states her family visited. She was an avid bowler and was part of the 600 Club. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Niagara Falls and the family outings she planned every July to Cedar Point. She loved scratch off lottery tickets, playing bingo, and buying tips at the club.
Mary also enjoyed watching game shows, Judge Judy, Deal or No Deal, Law and Order and Murder She Wrote. She loved her Pepsi, coffee, cherry pie and veggie pizza. Mary always had plenty of candy in house for everyone that came to visit.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert R. Edwards Jr.; siblings, Michael A. (Shauna) Matelski, Diana M. Sherwin, Donna J. Tursivio, Christine L. (John) Edreff, and Matthew A. Matelski; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Marjorie Matelski; niece, Tara Balogh; brother-in-law, Michael Tursivio; maternal and paternal grandparents; aunts and uncles.
