Milan N. Wascovich's Obituary
Milan N. Wascovich, 67, of Lorain, formerly of Harrison Twp., Michigan, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a lengthy illness. He was born December 22, 1952 in Lorain.
Milan was retired but most recently worked as an Adjunct Faculty Business Instructor at Dorsey Schools near Detroit from 2008 to 2016 and as a supervisor for several McDonald’s franchises in the Detroit area from 1989 to 2005. Growing up in Lorain, Milan was a Lorain County Sheriff’s Deputy from 1978 to 1989 after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1975 with a B.S. in Business Administration. A Lorain Catholic graduate, Milan enjoyed watching his beloved Buckeyes play each fall as well as attending many games of all the Cleveland sports teams.
He was a loving and proud father to his daughter Caitlin, a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a loving brother to all his siblings.
Survivors include his daughter Caitlin of Elyria; four sisters, Jean (Rich) Yohman of Lorain, Kathy (Bill) Majcher of Cortland, Diane (Jon) Sockel of Lorain, and Maryellen (Ray) Martinez of St. Augustine, FL; sister-in-law, Donna of Elyria; and his brother, Terry (Tina) of Northfield, OH.
Milan was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Mary (nee Chovanec) Wascovich; and brothers, Patrick and Donald.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria, Ohio 44035. Rev. Father Charles T. Diedrick, pastor, will officiate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic face coverings are required at the church, limited seating will be provided for the Mass to ensure that a six feet separation is maintained.
A family and friends celebration of Milan’s life will also take place next summer.
In lieu of flowers the family request that all donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd. Street, New York, NY 10016.
